Timeless Tuesday Number Twenty One

Welcome to Timeless Tuesday #21! Wow, Timeless Tuesday can legally drink alcohol ~ sounds like a martini night for me!!

Seriously ~ you may have noticed the lack of posts lately. So sorry! I have been very busy with work AND the Gala. What Gala you ask?? Take a look at yesterday's post. It is very rewarding and very time consuming.

Today I am posting about the ever classic art. What type of art? It really doesn't matter. Art is in the eye of the beholder just like beauty. For me designs can be inspired by a piece of art or they can complete the design with their presence. I posted about my bedroom that was inspired by a wonderful Victor Klauss piece.

That is a passionate design.

Even in my my tweens' rooms, art plays an important role. The art I selected reflected each girl's personalities and likes.

I know I only represent wall art in this post but art is vast and in many forms. For me ~ a room in not complete without the art. It will always be a timeless need for me ~ always.

Now it is your turn to share your posts about classics or trends you hope become timeless...

Timeless Tuesday Number Seventeen

Welcome to Timeless Tuesday #17! Sorry I didn't post on Friday or yesterday. Monday's Method will return next week! I didn't post because my family and I were off enjoying a timeless classic ~ ushering in SUMMER!!! Finally!

The water slide was set up in my backyard for three days. Lauren and her friends enjoyed it so much. We ate until we couldn't move and laughed until our sides hurt. We doubled the dose of sunscreen as we hung out almost exclusively outside.

I hope you had an enjoyable long weekend!

That is my timeless classic for today ~ welcoming summer and the glorious outdoor entertaining season!

Timeless Tuesday Number Sixteen

Welcome to Timeless Tuesday #16. Today I am taking a deviating from design to share another love of mine ~ music. I have written about music many times on my blog but not for a while. Today I am writing about an amazing woman I have seen several times ~ Ms. Carole King. Ms. King is one of the most talented song writers in America's history. She has been going strong for decades and continues to perform. My timeless classic for #16 is the one, the only, Carole King. Here she is through the years...

She has written many favorite songs of mine. I will leave you with a couple to enjoy as you contemplate which post you link to the party. Let me know if you have ever seen her in concert. I saw her once when she performed with her daughter. I loved that. Some day I hope my daughter is by my side like this. Not performing of course but designing. She does this now at the age of seven. Lauren, my daughter, is wonderful with colors. I've asked her to find a paint color that matches a fabric and she does it lickaty split. But I digress. Here are a couple songs that I love... enjoy!

Timeless Tuesday Number Fifteen

Welcome to Timeless Tuesday #15. Today my timeless classic is neutral paint. There is nothing wrong with color on your walls. I tend to think of walls in my designs as the canvas. I often place a neutral paint color on them such that all that now enters the room is the feature presentation. Here are a few examples of what I mean...

Barbara Barry

Paula Grace

Jonathan Adler

Ron Marvin

Vicente Wolf

If the canvas is neutral, all else takes center stage ~ art, furnishings, lighting... The other wonderful thing is if you want to change out pieces, you can do so with ease.

Neutral wallcovering ~ specifically paint in this post ~ is my timeless classic for today.

Timeless Tuesday Number Fourteen

Welcome to Timeless Tuesday #14! Today, I am covering 'jewelry' sort of...

Beaded from PR Guerin

Have you ever changed the knobs or pulls on a piece of furniture or cabinet and saw the incredible change that can happen? I have. By simply changing out the knobs, a piece can have new life. I like giving things new life. It repurposing and that is eco-friendly and that makes it a timeless classic.

A brand new piece of furniture can be made to look like a timeless classic also by selecting knobs that convey this. This is a wonderful thing to know if you are on a budget. The knobs can really be considered the jewelry. We all have varying tastes and styles. Knobs can reflect yours just as the jewelry you wear does. Here are a few examples...

CK-3007 and CK-5005 both from SA Baxter

Clear Glass Bead with Hardware #4 from TE-MA; Louis XVI from PE Guerin

Cockatoo and Peacock Lady both from Notting Hill

Duo Square and Nu Lily both from Susan Goldstick

So you see, one may have classic, whimsical, artistic, contemporary.... the sky is the limit. Knobs and pulls let you show off the real you and the real you is always a timeless classic.

I recently designed a lovely buffet for wonderful clients of mine. The knob I specified is one of the above. I'll give you a hint ~ the buffet is mahogany with antique silver leaf detail. I designed it to have an aged appearance as if it has been around for a spell. Knowing what you know about me and the brief description I just told you, can you pick the knob I am using?

Timeless Tuesday Number Thirteen

Welcome to Timeless Tuesday. Crystal chandeliers ~ I love them. They are as timeless as the mountains and used in any design style. These photos, all from Architectural Digest, seem to agree. The photo at the top is of a traditional design boasting a gorgeous crystal chandelier. BTW ~ I love the symmetry in this design.

Here is a lovely little number clearly in a contemporary design.

They always make a splash in the dining room.

There are so many to choose from these days. Here are a couple favorites of mine both from Fine Arts Lamps...

I am actually specifying versions of these for a project I am working on. The first one is called Beveled Arc; the second ~ Cascades. Aren't they stunning? I have a Beveled Arc in my foyer. I enjoy it every day.

Crystal chandeliers ~ always a timeless classic.
