Completely in Love with Fabric

I recently showed you the progress on a project. I just love the fabrics I used. I brought them with me to High Point Market last October and worked to complete the rooms while there. The fabric at the top is a lush tone on tone velvet from Bergamo Fabrics ~ Vendramin. I just love it.

   
The ones above are gorgeous dupioni silks from Libas. I love silk and linen for drapes. I have used the off white silk ~ Bangalore ~ many times. I even have it in my master bedroom.


 How about this sweetheart of a fabric ~ Adelaide Embroidery from Schumacher. It looks wonderful on the dining chair backs. Since it is silk, I did not place it on the inside chair. There I placed a a Kravet contract velvet in the same background color as the Adelaide. The contract will clean up much better when messy eaters come to town.

 
 This fabric from Groundworks ~ Nolita ~ I have in both the living and dining rooms as an accent. The
 colors are simply magnificent.

 
Last but not least, another Schumacher beauty, the Usak Weave. The picture does not do it justice. The motif is large scale and fantastic.  Here's a couple of pictures from the rooms.

Looking forward to the rug I designed for the foyer making it's debut.  Then the professional pictures can be taken really showing what amazing fabrics can do.

Living and Dining Room Update

A few posts ago I showed you an installation of a living and dining room.  Here is an update.  Above in the living room gorgeous throw pillows with fabric from Schumacher and Donghia.  Plus the lovely Hickory Chair cocktail table.

In the dining room, beautiful Hickory Chair chairs surround the table in Schumacher and Kravet fabric.  Just waiting on a couple of accessories to place and then Bob can come in and take photos.  My photography skills are unfortunately limited.  Thank God for professional photographers like Bob!

Dining Room Installation

If you read my blog on Monday, you would have seen the living room installation. Here goes the dining room. First, a little sparkle from crystal finials from JF Fabric and Hardware. I love the glitter is sprays on the wall.

There's Joe this time finishing the drapes so they look perfect.

What a mess! All installations start out looking like this. Love the cabinet from John Richard though.

That's better. That is a heavy mirror (also from John Richard) so special hardware was needed and patience to put it up. Jeff and Joe were up to the challenge. It needs a little something....

That's better. The glass art is from Cyan Design.

Gorgeous chair from Hickory Chair (so is the table). The grand vase is from Emissary.

I love the Currey chandelier. It makes everything glow. Chess pieces are from Palecek. We're just awaiting the green glass art bowl for the centerpiece. It's coming from Italy so it has a ways to travel.

There we go! Now you see the purple rhythm in one shot. We had a bit of a surprise with the dining chair fabric (not the purple ones). The original fabric from Lee Jofa was completely damaged ~ every stitch of it sent to Hickory Chair for the dining chairs and every bit of it in every colorway in stock (I had them check). The fabric was discontinued (hmmm.... wonder why?!!). It's a shame though; it was quite beautiful. It really wasn't a reflection on Lee Jofa; moreso the mill. No worries though. My pals at Schumacher came through. I had two lovely ladies in the showroom looking with me at every possibility. We came up with e true winner. Kravet still has its day as I used one of their fabrics for the inside back and seat. They will arrive shortly so the Italian bowl still has a few days to make it's appearance.

Details, details... It's all in the details.

Neutral Will Never Be The Same

If you read my blog, you know I am a big fan of neutral hues. I like to create a canvas with neutral ~ not a bland canvas ~ one with ingenuity and texture ~ then layer in some color. I have found my new 'best friend' in Calvin Klein for Kravet. It just gets better and better.

How does a Coke bottle turn into Fabric?

Kravet just filled us in on how they create 100% green fabric ~ recycled polyester fabric. Its pretty amazing.

Chapter One

First they gather "diet coke bottles." I wonder if it really has to be diet coke bottles ~ maybe they want the fabric to be light weight....

Chapter Two

Next they break it down. Do you think they play rap music while doing this? Hmmm?!

Chapter Three

Next, it becomes plastic threads. This look like something my daughter jumps it at her favorite game place ~ except a whole lot cleaner!

Chapter Four

Then there are the water bottles that are turned into yarns for weaving. See, they DO want it to be light weight!

Chapter Five

The story has such a happy ending.....

I have used this line of fabric many times in clients' homes. I also specified it for a green design published in the Washington Post Column ~ House Calls.

Epilogue
