Janell Presents Coffer / Box Beamed Ceilings
You know I love Houzz. Well, I headed over there to see what's new. Low and behold, there is my blog friend, Janell, from Isabella and Max Rooms. I love Janell and her style. Her blog is one that I frequent. And here she is on Houzz with a wonderful examples of coffer / box beamed ceilings. She posted this too last Saturday but I can never get enough coffer ceilings (or Janell :)
Jump on over there to see the rest. Janell did a fabulous job compiling them.
Enjoy your weekend!

Onward...
In this phase of Project Love, the magnificent wallpaper is installed and lighting and fabric begin to make their debut...
Breathtaking glass bead wallpaper surrounds...

The dining chairs are home again. But Paula Grace, they don't look any different!
On the contrary, they are very different with spectacular Barry Dixon fabric on the chair back. The head chairs have a little something extra.
This chair treatment is just like this...
Beautiful and restrained from the front ~ daring and delicious from the back.

The living room now has a fabulous chandelier where there was none before ~ on a dimmer of course. All lighting, but particular overhead and wall lighting, must be on a dimmer to perfect the ambiance for any given situation.
There's grumpy Mike again. You may remember him from the tween project. He's installing the dining room sconces...
and twin chandeliers over the table. His son is his helper during the summer. There is he with some of the extra chandelier chain around his neck. Mike did an eye roll in response to this. I just smiled :) His son is at then age when defiance is starting. I smile at that too and wonder how Mike will contend with the next few years.
This project is getting exciting. I don't think Mike is excited about what's to come ;)

The Journey...
The journey continues with Project Love... the curlers are out but we still have so much styling to do...
The beautiful custom medallions are installed in the dining room.
The powder room switch plates are painted the same color as the walls. I wanted them to fade completely into the background to not detract from the eventual sconces.
Mission accomplished. Make sure you use switch plates that are specifically for painting or have your painter properly prime and paint the existing ones to prevent chipping.
The exiting dining room chairs begin there journey to stardom.
Bye bye...
Here is a shot of the living room, family room, and dining room from the foyer at this phase. This is such an important view. It is the first visual sweep of one's home when guests enter.

Family room ~ notice the wonderful coffer ceiling.
I am linking with Between Naps on the Porch Metamorphosis Monday. I haven't linked in a while and this project is certainly a metamorphosis.

Wearing Curlers
Ok, wearing curlers??!! What??!! Wearing curlers is about as glamorous as walking out of a public bathroom with toilet paper stuck to your shoe. However when you take them out and run your fingers through your hair ~ FABULOUS! The mess before the magic. That is what this post is all about. Project Love ~ the mess before the magic...
Plastic sheets ~ a wonderful invention. Keeps the dust to a minimum. What's behind the veil?
More mess on its way to fabulous...
One of the guys did not have a mask on while sanding. I lovingly yelled at him...
Oh boy. Hey, there's one of the custom medallions though...
Here's the thing... there was a mess in every public space in the home... except for the kitchen... that comes later. It is simply unkind to have each room a complete mess. The homeowner must be able to sit somewhere :) I like this console very much. I'm reusing it. I am reusing several of their existing pieces ~ just breaking up the sets though. Harmony = Unity + Diversity. The broken sets will provide a nice flow element to the public spaces as well as unity. I am bringing in the diversity.
Wow! You may recall the television was over their magnificent fireplace. It was the view from the foyer. I moved the television to the side and lowered it to a comfortable viewing height. This leaves the fireplace ready and able to showcase a fantastic piece of art. My clients opened their minds regarding the art. It was a wonderful moment. My pride for them just beamed.
Yeah, yeah... you again. No worries ~ all will be right in the world again when I am done with you.
And of course, my Lauren being a ham bone in the foyer with her hair a complete funny mess. You fit right in my love.

For those running, screaming away from your computer at the sight of these photos, those are symptoms of PRSD (Post Redecorating Stress Disorder). I have a cure for that though ~ click here to find it out. Take two of those (any one will do) and recover over a nice long weekend ;)

I know, I know... but...
I know I was going to show you more pictures of Project Love but I have been running all week and have not been able to post. Sorry! I will, I promise.
Today though you can find me over at Finding Fabulous. Jane asked me to guest post and then I blundered the date and then Jane's computer bit the dust.... Hopefully today is the day! I wrote about something near and dear to me ~ little girls' rooms. Enjoy!

Project Love...
Have you ever worked on a project that you simply adore? This is one of those projects. My clients listen intently and soak in the information. They have stretched themselves to incorporate new ideas. Trust is firmly established and they understand I have their best interest in my heart. Bliss!
Here are some before pictures...
Yes, this is where the home with the foyer window issue...
All in all, not to shabby. They worked with a designer previously but it just didn't hit a home run for them. He wants "Wow!" But as I walked through the home I couldn't help but notice the demur aspects that were clearly hers and needed to be respected. I few things were clear ~ the palette included hues of orange, green, and neutrals. They love orange, green, and neutrals ~ just not some of the ones currently in their home. There are a couple of surprises though. When I opened the powder room door ~ it revealed purple walls and I thought 'Ahhhh passion is hidden beneath the surface here.' So my job is to give them demur, secretly passionate Wow. I can do that ;)
Stay tuned...

Why on Earth?...
Why on earth would a reputable builder make such a blunder? Look at the placement of this window. The molding at the top of the window is literally touching the crown molding. UGH! This is a dilemma I have had to contend with on one of my projects. The client did not want to reposition the window, which is understandable given the cost and all they want to do in their home.
We were discussing it yesterday. One would typically center the foyer chandelier in the window, which is exactly what they did. Their current chandelier is so high though it just looks wrong. My association to it is looking up and woman's dress ~ a distasteful position. They thought that was a funny and an accurate description of looking at the chandelier. I will show you I am doing to take the focus away from this builder's blunder next week. But first I am interested in your thoughts and ideas on how you would 'correct' this situation.

Conversation with Lauren
I have posted conversations with Lauren that leave me in awe before. This time is no different. You know I love art ~ can't live without it really. This is a painting I have in my home by Victor Klauss (represented by Art & Frame Source). I love it. When I look at at it, I see a women sitting, bent over perhaps out of exhaustion. Lauren said to me the other day, "Mommy, I don't see a women. I see a lion." She preceded to point the lion out to me. As soon as she literally pointed it out, I saw it too. Amazing! I love abstract art because people can see different things so each person's experience of it is their own. Lauren is a very confident, vocal little girl. It doesn't surprise me that she saw a lion. What does that say about me then when I see an exhausted women?? Hmmm??.....
What do you see?
